Escalona Elementary School. a California Distinguished School, is a K-5 school located in La Mirada, California near Rosecrans and La Mirada Blvd, off of Excelsior Ave. We are approximately 20 miles from downtown Los Angeles.
Since its inception, Escalona has enjoyed a reputation in the community as a school with high student achievement and involved parents. In fact, parents are so committed to academic excellence that many choose to move into Escalona's attendance area because of its reputation as a school offering excellence in academics paired with a warm and nurturing school climate.
We are pleased to serve an ethnically and culturally diverse student body and community that reflect California's diversity with families from Asia, Central and South America, Europe and the Middle East. Among the 575 students, you will encounter G.A.T.E. students, English Learners, and students with special needs. Escalona is a hub for a specialized program for children with autism, with two classrooms serving approximately 20 students. All of our students enjoy a wide range of opportunities that allow them to learn and grow together.
Escalona's long standing reputation as a high quality school providing excellent academic opportunities for every child is maintained through a comprehensive literacy program, powerful mathematical experiences and hands on activities that stimulate and solidify high levels of learning. Commitment by the total staff, extensive communication, positive reinforcement of school rules and actively involved parents create an exceptional learning environment and in 2014 Escalona was indeed recognized as an exceptional place to learn by being named a California Distinguished School.
We invite you to experience our school, where children come first and where parents, staff and community work together to help fulfill our motto: "Soaring on the wings of knowledge."
